Anime Expeditions tier list
This is a launch-window, role-based tier list. It prioritizes evolved passives, team utility, and performance across Story, Expeditions, and raids instead of ranking units from rarity alone.
| Tier | Units | Why they rank here |
|---|---|---|
| S | Cursed Student (True Love), Salmon Sorcerer (Grade 1), Shadow (Divine), True Saint (Holy) | Scaling damage, strong control, durable summon pressure, or exceptional team amplification |
| A | The Hero, Elf Mage (Unleashed), Flame Emperor (Reincarnate), Puppet (Telekinetic), String Demon (Awakened) | High-value support, area damage, burn coverage, rewind control, and follow-up attacks |
| B | Lady Giant (Envy), Hollow (Blaze), Reaper (Released), 8th Sword (Berserker) | Useful damage or specialist value, but more dependent on map, investment, or team setup |
| Watch | Crimson (Brother), Toy Maker | Promising evolved or exclusive options that need more repeatable cross-mode testing |
Best units by role
| Role | Priority units |

| Team amplifier | True Saint (Holy), The Hero |
| Area and damage-over-time | Flame Emperor (Reincarnate), Lady Giant (Envy) |
| Long-fight magic damage | Elf Mage (Unleashed) |
| Follow-up synergy | String Demon (Awakened) |
Why evolved forms matter
Nine documented units gain unique passives through evolution. Examples include:
- True Saint (Holy): Seize borrows damage from the three strongest units in range for 60 seconds.
- Puppet (Telekinetic): Complete Control rewinds enemies in range by two seconds.
- Salmon Sorcerer (Grade 1): adds slow and stagger control.
- Shadow (Divine): summons a Divine Spirit that cannot be killed, despawned, or stunned.
- Flame Emperor (Reincarnate): places a burn-inflicting wall on a path.
How to use this ranking
An S-tier unit is not automatically the best first placement. Story favors affordable coverage, while raids reward evolved carries, control, and support synergy. Keep at least one opener and avoid spending all resources on a rare unit that cannot stabilize early waves.
